What Shabbat means to Towson
This video produced last year, demonstrates the impact that Shabbat is having on our students. Save Our Shabbat Campaign
Towson's Shabbat program has a direct impact on shaping the Jewish identity of hundreds of students. Hillel provides students with an amazing Shabbat experience every week; they get a delicious, catered Shabbat dinner, hang out with friends and create new Jewish connections.
For the past two years, Hillel has received a donation for $25,000 each year to support Shabbat. This gift provided FREE catered Shabbat dinners, and the opportunity for students to host their own Shabbat meals (Shabbat Your Way Program available at www.towsonshabbat.com).
Unfortunately, the gift was not renewed for the upcoming year, and unless the funds are raised, students will most likely have to begin paying for (or using meal plan for) Shabbat meals. We do not know if Towson's Kosher Dining is capable of providing the same quality meals to accommodate the large Shabbat crowds. We are sending an important S.O,S to the community to Save Our Shabbat!!!
